The robins red plumage showed up in contrast to the blue and grey rocks so I tried to recreate that …eventually settling with line pencil work to keep the robins sharp. After adding text no easy feat for myself to do I am awaiting a small print run of postcards . 
Decided to try this approach for the reverse of the postcard.

Here is a Character that I have been drawing for a proposed Picture Book. I have been making a dummy storybook to send away which happily ended with new artwork using pencil and watercolours with some colour inks. I enjoyed storyboarding and one of the images led to a change on my Blog’s Banner and Title Page.
Two penguins and a car
Both penguins look proud to be minding this scalextic racing car. The ink I used for painting the tyres is a lovely brown called Reynolds Noire though not permanent it was an alternative to using black ink. The small metal penguin is made of solid painted metal and the taller penguin is made from plastic its head bobs around. It has the word Falklands printed on its front
Blue Oilcan
- Study for January 2016
- I was attracted to the play off between the sleek blue victorian bottle and the silver blue surface of the worn oilcan. Blue inks from Dr Martins and W&N series were used alongside watercolours and applied with dip pen and brush. Thanks for looking at my work and sharing my observational drawing skills. Just sketching now for February’s study and resting the blue inks for a while.

Sarah’s Pattern
Quietly before Christmas I set myself the challenge to create a pattern based on the Brides beautiful shoes and vintage purse.
Two of the designs lent themselves to small scale and with the help of Spoonflower who digitally supplied small swatches from my pattern design I began to cut and sew. The scale was reduced from the one seen below,
My sewing machine and I have a testing relationship but all went well I am pleased to say. Choosing coloured ribbon was almost as satisfying as wrapping the lavender bags in gift wrap!.
The pattern below can be bought in my little shop .By the Meadow One sample swatch at 8x8inches was just enough to make one lavender bag in very fine cotton lawn which is ivory in colour. 
The second pattern was a tossed repeat which I am hoping to place in my shop in the next few weeks.
Sarah was very suprised on opening her present!
Boat trips out to sea.
An Otter taking day trippers out to sea leaving the bright lights behind.
Developing this theme further I tried adding colour digitally with a little writing.
Early in the morning before the moon disappears he prepares for the day ahead. One flask of tea, two sardine buns and three pairs of woolly socks.

Thought I would rework my earliest pattern made in photoshop and update the drawing which led to variations in design. Hopefully the charm from the original hasnt been lost in the process . Thank you for looking and commenting over the months its been a year since I began this blog it helps to organise ideas for me and hopefully raises a smile or two on the way.
Summer Wedding
Asked to create designs for a Wedding invitation I doodled and sketched away . I really enjoyed the process and the way ideas can springboard when using traditional to digital media.
A little while later a design was settled it was so satisfying to see how the line art worked on other stationary too
