The Winter Visitor

This is the book jacket I have been working on for the latest new story in the ‘On The Beach Collection’ written by Christopher Green.

I loved drawing the different designs for the cover especially whilst cat sitting in Lasswade. Ronin (Cat) has a Siberian wild look to him and I think that helped. It was important to both of us to capture the shoreline of Saltburn in North Yorkshire. Also more recently a Sealion has been popping up to watch the folk on the pier.. it does turn very cold in Winter.

It is a lovely concept as a story and up to date with a strong eco friendly thread. It was important to us to reflect the area of Saltburn in the cover design especially.

This book can be viewed as an ebook too via amazon

Snow over Old Skelton Church

Inky old skelton church in the snow

After Christmas I developed an idea for cards based on an owl, fairy lights and snow. Inks are mostly used with the addition of a recent gift (masking fluid). The Church built of sandstone in 1785 replaces the original14th Century Church retaining some interior walls. Its in a lovely spot, also I’m still waiting to be introduced to the black cat I painted a few summers ago.

watercolour and ink with snow

This is larger than A4 (larger than usual) and painted on thicker cartridge paper with watercolours and the addition of the ink line. In all the excitement of controlling washes I seem to have lost the crescent moon hopefully a little atmosphere is depicted.
